Multiagent systems
Book Description
A multi-agent system is a system consisting of several self-governing entities with different information or different interests, or both. This comprehensive introduction to a growing field is written from a computer science perspective, and brings together insights from operations research, game theory, economics, logic, even even philosophy and linguistics.
This exciting and pioneering new look at multi-agent systems, which are online systems consisting of many interactive intelligent agents, i.e. online commerce, provides a new computing perspective on the system. multi-agent, while incorporating ideas from operations research, game theory, economics, logic, and even philosophy and linguistics.
The authors emphasize the bases for creating a broad and coherent treatment of their subject, with in-depth presentations on distributed problem solving, game theory, communication and multi-agent learning, social choice, mechanism design, auctions, cooperative game theory, and logical modes of knowledge and belief.
For each topic, basic concepts are introduced, examples are given, proofs of key results are given, and algorithmic considerations are discussed. An appendix covers the basics of probability theory, classical logic, Markov decision processes, and mathematical programming.
Written by two of the leading researchers in this exciting field, this book is sure to be a reference for researchers in the fastest growing field of computer science and will used as writing for advanced undergraduate or graduate courses.
